Limited Freedom in China
These are a few different posters I did for my final. The theme had to be something that had been going on recently in the world. Ai Weiwei, a Chinese artist was recently taken under custody of the government for expressing his thoughts of the Chinese government worldwide. He was investigating a case where poorly build schools fell to the ground crushing thousands of children under a light earthquake in 2009. 26 other artists and journalists were taken at the same time (April 2011), 1 was sent to a labor camp, 5 was bailed out - no one knows what happened to the other 20, so far. Amnesty International have approximated that there is ten thousands of people that have expressed their disagreement with the government, in labor camps in China today!
The posters are limited in both style and color palette to make a bolder statement and express the words "limited freedom" in the drawings themselves.

"Imagine, little sister" from sketchbook portofolio
"Prophetic Imagination" was the words of last week that inspired this image. The textures doesn't quite come through in the scan. I'm trying to get better at considering titles, so I title this on "Imagine, little sister". Mixed media, April 5th. 2011.
