Poster completed

This is a school assignment more along the corporate field. The challenge was to make something look like it could fit into a corporate setting while still maintaining my own visual flavor. I finished it yesterday.

Tin house editorial illustration

This is my refined sketch in progress for a project I am working on with Tin House Magazine. The illustration is in response to a poem that will be published by the magazine along with 2 illustrations, one from Portland and one from New York. In other words there are multiple illustrators involved, everyone gets the benefits of working with the magazine, yet only a couple will be selected for the September magazine issue. Here's hoping that one is mine. Tune in to see the final illustration.

Moodboards for thesis work

These are some moodboards I created to show in my presentation. They set the tone and vibe of the illustrations I will create next semester. I am currently working on completing my first semester, of my last year at school. I am taking a Bachelor degree in illustration. Before I can finish my first semester, I have to present what my final bachelor assignment will be, also called thesis, and pass. My presentation is coming up, there are only a couple of weeks left...(Yes I'm a bit nervous. But I intend on doing good!)

I see you animation installation - performed

These images are pure documentation of a performance, animation/installation I did about a month ago. ( This was the first time I added myself into a part of a piece. My focus was to animate life or health as something vulnerable, and let my audience experience that vulnerability when they walked into the room. The bright square on my chest is where the animation is happening. Curious of what it looks like? ->Stay tuned for a documented video that will be posted in a few days time.

The 2012 PNCA Illustration Juried show

This is a gallery show that opens tomorrow in Portland, OR. I have one of my pieces (titled: Dreamers fly - check earlier post from this year) in the show. If you're in Portland I absolutely recommend you go, there will be a huge variety of artists represented with really amazing illustrations! I'm so excited to be part of it!

Work in progress. Time?

For the time being I am doing a lot of reading, writing and researching. 4 of my 5 classes at school are heavily relying on theories and the practice of writing about ideologies, art movements and where I fit into the world as an artist. These are really interesting subjects that over and over again blows my mind the more I learn about it. Yet I am sorely missing my creative practice of producing art constantly. So I am really making an effort into creating my own props and art assignments. Here is the result of one I started working on a while ago, but haven't had time to finish yet. I hope to finish this sooner rather than later, and show you the finished work here on my blog. As I now have finished the first parts of my thesis (my bachelor assignment in Illustration) research and decided on my statement, I will be sharing sketches and planning of my thesis work here, so that you can follow me in my process. Over the next 9 months I will be steadily working towards a series of illustrations that will become the end of my four years at the Pacific Northwest College of Arts. Ready? Bring it on!

Food Mekka, Group thinking, Peter Pan

Here is a series I did where the assignment was to create 3 illustrations that would go along with 3 different articles from the New Yorker. What do you think the different images talk about?
