Let's tell stories!

This is a piece that would go in a promo packet with some postcards, art work and CD with my digital portofolio - and then this would all be sent out to art directors or people I would like to work with in the future. It's supposed to be a simple and fun note that would go with the rest of my work, and still say "let's work together" clearly.

Hope will find them grey, screenprinted

These are a few of some screenprinted pieces I did. I just learned how to screenprint last week. They are titled "Hope will find them grey".

Sketchbook drawings and fathersday

Drawings from my sketchbook. The top one is a blind line drawing, which means that I am only looking at the person I'm drawing and not on the paper. It's a really great exercise to keep my mind and hand corresponding directly. I also wanted to dedicate this post to my dad since it's fathers day in Norway today - maybe the top drawing will give you a laugh. Gratulerer med farsdagen Pappa! <3

Poppy flowers from my sisters golden heart

">

These images are from the very first woodcut I did back in September this year. I did these while thinking of my mom, and my youngest sister. My mom loves poppy flowers, and every time my youngest sister goes somewhere and sees poppy flowers, she'll pick some for my mom or take a picture of them and say: these are here in honor of the world's best mamma. So, inspired by my sisters golden heart and my fantastic mother, I made this woodcut to honor them both. The prints are on different tinted papers.

Norsk - want it, get it.

These are my very first woodcut reduction print, I just finished it 2 days ago. It's a limited edition of ten pieces. They all have 4 colors including the paper, and the colors vary from print to print (all though the difference in color seem more settle on the computer then in real life). They are up for sale (as is most of the other work on my page.) If you see something you want on my page, contact me, I could make it happen.

"I see you" woodcarvings

These are from a series of woodcarvings I did. It's my first wood carving ever where I used to differnt blocks to form one image (all in all it's my second woodcarving print - the first woodcarving will be up in a few days).

I'm not a photographer

I'm not a photographer, I have no clue what I do when it comes to the technicalities of taking pictures. I do like to document memories, treasure the moments I share with friends, family and nature or the adventures of a new place. Every once in a while I get to borrow a "fancy-er" camera from a friend (thank you Mr. Dixon!) that allows me to experiment a little bit more than my own little, red square allows me to. Here are a few photos from my last long exposure light experiment - done in September.

I'm making art ~ I swear!...

I'm having some technical difficulties uploading new pictures. Does anyone know if there is a limit to how much you can upload to a blogspot account? And if so, what's the total limit of all posts?? How many MG?

Anyhow - hopefully there will be some new pictures up soon - I am trying to fix it.

smile because it is friday!

I just wanted to share some textures that I have created since I've been so interested in textures lately and exploring with adding them into my pieces. Ahh, it's been a very looong week and I am stoked to see that Friday night is finally here and it is time to relax! (for a few hours before I start working on my on going projects which have been giving me such a hard time!)

Elgen kommer

Here are a few different versions of my "winter" themed project (See sketchbook work posted 2 weeks ago to see my starting point). I just finished these ones yesterday. Which one do you like the best?

Do you speak messenging/SMS?

I did this in class today. It was a project that had to be completed within one hour. Do you speak messenging/SMS?

Born with ski's on...

This is a page from my sketchbook that I did today. I am working with illustrating the season winter, particularly winter in Norway and the way I see and feel for it. This will be a series of at least 2 illustrations (hopefully 3). I'll be done in two weeks from now. Oh, and these are just my ideas and thoughts for what I plan on doing, so that you can follow me from the beginning of the project til the finished result. I major part of the series will be done with textures, colors and patterns.

I'm good

Good morning, afternoon or evening! (Depending on where in the world you are....And when you read this). Last night I had only two hours of sleep. I came home from school on Monday (my first day of the semester) and started painting and drawing right away. As I was home alone for the evening, time went by so fast that all of a sudden I had been working for 7 hours straight (with just a bite to chew on). I got so into art mode that I could not fall asleep once I finally got to bed. I kept picturing different motifs and methods of making illustrations and animations. Now I have so many ideas, it is left to see if I manage to get some of them out here for "show and tell". I went to my morning class where my teacher talked about fundamental American questions, the constitution, the bill of legislation, rights, what being a citizen really mean, and how this all ties back to what made America -well, America. Here is a drawing I drew of my teacher while he was talking. The lines are blind (meaning that I looked at my teacher an not down on the paper). It should be said that I peeked down at the paper while drawing in the shadows. Art school is wonderful, I don't get yelled at for sketching while the teacher is talking. (Yes this one goes out to you Mrs. Math teacher back in high school.) My mind is much more present and focused when my pen get to doodle.

Mr. Eder and "the five nouns that made America"
After class I got to catch up with an old and dear friend, the piano. Our school now has a piano on campus. What a joy! I was thinking of completely giving up playing music in total since I haven't been able to find a piano I could borrow to play on (while not bothering anyone), that is, until this very day! Conclusion: I'm good.

Above is an illustration I believe I posted earlier this year (May?) Although this one has a minor adjustment I think makes a major improvement. Can you tell what the adjustment is?

Animation Self portrait, October 2010

Since the animations I've uploaded have been rather troublesome and not been able to play very well (or not at all), I created a youtube account where I will upload the animations and link my blog to. I hope this will work out for the better.

Experimenting with long exposure photoes.

These are some long exposure photos I took last night. Instead of capturing one moment with the camera I experimented with capturing several moments from different realities, into one photo. I used what was showing on tv/youtube videos on the computer, photography I've taken, my backyard and pointed light sources (such as, the microwave light). This allows me to collage together pieces in a strictly digital way and get a different expression and feel to it.
